Our Story

Spring Creek United Methodist Church was organized in 1998 to serve the growing population between San Antonio and Boerne. The church began as a “seekers” church, hoping to serve people who were looking to return to church or who had never been involved in church life. It was to be a contemporary church organized around small groups for study, service, and fellowship.

While looking for property for a permanent campus, the congregation met for three years at the Knights of Columbus Hall in the Crown Ridge subdivision, a location that provided ample meeting room (along with a bar, a margarita machine, and a picture of the Pope in the foyer). The congregation acquired 30 acres of land on Old Fredericksburg Road and began making plans to build a church campus. However, before construction began, they voted to raise money to build a home for Habitat for Humanity.

As with many churches, Spring Creek experienced some growing pains and changes in direction but focus on a common mission held us together. As we continued to reach out to the growing community and offer a welcoming, meaningful worship experience, membership continued to grow, necessitating a second Sunday worship service. Vibrant youth and children’s ministries were developed, small groups were revived, mission outreach to the local community, the nation, and the world expanded, and church members took on greater roles in the leadership of the congregation. “Growing in faith, serving God” became our focus.

Plans were underway by 2015 for a campus expansion to meet  growing numbers and needs. Once again, however, the congregation voted to build a second Habitat home and to sponsor two Joshua Builds. Work then began on an industrial kitchen, a Fellowship building, and expansion of the sanctuary.

Even during the COVID pandemic the church was able to continue providing online worship, children and youth activities and small group studies.  We were able to provide assistance to families who were suffering because of COVID through Spring Creek CARES.  As COVID restrictions have begun to ease, we look forward to a new phase of  “Growing in faith and serving God.”  We invite you to be involved in our mission with your talent, your time, and your prayers.
