Rev. Dinah Shelly

My name is Dinah Shelly and I have been a United Methodist all my life. I grew up at First Methodist Midland and knew from an early age that sharing the story of God and loving the people of God was what I wanted to do.
The year I graduated from high school, I went to Texas A&M and my parents moved to Boerne. In 1992, I graduated from college and worked as an intern at Boerne FUMC that summer.
That same summer, Keith and I were engaged and we were married in the old sanctuary of Boerne FUMC in 1993.
We moved to Atlanta so I could attend seminary (and lived there when the Olympics came to town!). In 1997, I graduated from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and also began serving as an associate pastor at Alamo Heights UMC.
During this time, pastoral care, teaching classes, leading women’s ministry, and designing worship have been important to me. Most recently, I have had the privilege of leading worship in a community that defines itself as contemplative, casual and welcoming to all people. I love church, reading, long walks, and digging in the dirt.
Keith and I have three wonderful children. Claire is working on a master’s degree at University of Pennsylvania, Alice is a senior at Baylor University, and Daniel is a freshman at Boerne Champion High School.
