As a former civil engineer, Denise has a passion for building bridges, but now between the church and the world where faithfulness is lived out in service.
Denise served as volunteer and staff at University UMC for 19 years in many ministries. She attended Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary before pursuing ordination as Deacon. Denise developed and opened Magdalena House, a transitional home for women and children fleeing dangerous situations, including human trafficking and domestic violence, where she currently serves as Executive Director.
Denise holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and worked for Bechtel and the Corps of Engineers in Texas and Pennsylvania. Once Denise experienced the unmerited love of Christ, she gave up building bridges to building up the Body of Christ.
Denise is married to Mike, a physician in San Antonio. They have two daughters, Kaitlin and Hannah. Denise loves reading, gardening and walking and talking with the animals.
She is excited to be at Spring Creek and connect people to serve God’s world.
