Women's Ministry

Women’s Ministry

Engage women to grow… in relationship with Christ through discipleship and community. Empower women to go… and live out their purpose as they serve and reach others for Christ locally and globally.

Quilts for Kids  is a national organization and our team works with the south Texas branch. We provided quilts for children at S.A. children’s Hospital. These quilts are used during the child’s stay and taken home when they are discharged. We focus on the neonatal unit but also sew for children of every age thru 18. We can teach new sewers how to quilt but you must have a sewing machine. Presently we are meeting at Dee Ann Havely’s home in Leon Springs, 4th Wednesday, 9:30-2pm. dehavely@aol.com for more information.

Days for Girls Ministry- Sews and assembles washable feminine hygiene kits for girls in developing countries. This ministry provides much needed hygiene kits sewn and assembled at SCUMC so that girls in developing countries are able to live their lives in dignity and obtain a full education.  Meetings are on the 4th Thursday of the month from 9:30AM to noon in the Fellowship Building at Spring Creek UMC.  There are sewing and non-sewing tasks, so no sewing skills are required.  SCUMC has contributed over 2000 kits since the beginning of our involvement in this ministry.  To be part of this ministry contact Dee Ann Havely at 210-382-1488.  To learn more about Days for Girls visit their web page.

Spring Creek Women's Book Club our book club meets every 3rd Thursday of the month, in the church Fellowship building.  For info, contact Andy Williams at bwilli@sbcglobal.net

Through listening with "the ear of the heart," the sixth-century monk Benedict gained a fresh perspective on Christian spirituality as he lived by three simple vows: stability, obedience, and conversion.
